COATING CENTER coatings:
- PA CVD technology (plasma assisted chemical vapour deposition) – NEW!!!
- CVD technology – TiCN, TiC, TiN coatings
- Multi-layer sandwich-type coatings, e.g. with sliding layer
- On tools supplied by the customer
- We supply tools also without coating – heat treated and polished
- We ensure production and coating of tools made of hard metals
Coating of tools with use of PA CVD and CVD method:
METALTEST PA CVD coating is possible to use by applications, where it is not possible to use CVD technology by reason of high temperature of coating. CVD coating is engaged in 1000 °C, PA CVD in 500 °C.
CVD coatings fulfil high requirements to quality, particularly resistance to abrasion, long service life, hardness. Selection of an optimum layer is determined by processed material and working conditions of the tool.
Characteristic and advantages of CVD and PA CVD coatings:
Compact coatings of TiC, TiN and TiCN applied on tools made mainly from high-speed compact and powder steels at high temperatures of approx. 1000 °C.
Coatings can be applied on tools up to the diameter of 1000 mm and lengths of 2000 mm (the pieces, the weight of which exceeds 5 kg must be assessed individually) .
Thickness of coating 2–20µm depends on purpose of use of the tool.
Hardness of tools with CVD coating – up to 68 HRc (depending on material used for manufacturing of the tool).
Service life of tools with CVD coating is approx. 5–15 times higher in comparison with tools without coating, and 3–5 times higher in comparison with tools with PVD coating.
High resistance to wear of tools.
Increased productivity of labour.
Higher use of machine time.
Possibility of increasing cutting speed.
Extension of intervals between sharpening.
Enhancement of quality of finish of machined components.
Very good friction characteristics – reduction of friction at machining.
Thermal insulation effects (reduction of transfer of heat generated on cutting edge into the tools body).
High surface hardness.
Prevention of creation of „build-ups“ on edges.
Elimination of breaking off of tool edge.
Applications:
CVD coating
Coatings are designated particularly for tools for cold work
- Shearing tools – e.g. piercing punches
- Pressing and forming tools
- Extrusion tools
- Cutting tools
- Trimming dies for production of bolts
- Blades for cutting of wire and steel strips
- Stamping dies (marking of metallic parts)
- Punches
- Dollies a snap sets
- Extrusion dies
- Other applications, mainly for tools with high resistance to abrasion, high surface hardness and long service life.

PA CVD coating
- for the firms which inject under pressure aluminium, plastics, gum to the moulds (coating of the moulds and next components of the inject device) – there is a decrease of gluing of aluminium to mould
- precise press tools
- cutting tools
- shearing tools
- sizing tools
- application of anticorrosive coatings

We perform:
Application of coatings on tools made of high-speed steels and selected tool steels, as well as high-speed steels prepared by powder metallurgy.
Application of coatings on tools made of hard metals.
